There are two words that we do not use in everyday English – exhort and edify. But for those who are familiar with them, you will usually find the term “one another” following the normal use of these words.
Breaking the words down into their Greek origin, exhort (Gr. parakaleo) means to encourage. To edify (Gr. oikodomeo) means to build up from a foundation. Put them together and you have the idea of urging one another forward.
Someone asked me the other day what was something I consider to be extremely important. I told him that we have a choice. We are an influence on everyone we meet. Positive or negative. It’s our choice as to which one we will be.
Whether you are the leader of the pack or a member of the tribe, you have a choice to make. Will your example be a plus or a minus? At the end of the day, who is responsible for urging one another forward?
We all are. Choose to be positive.
