What business are you in? How well do you know your industry?
If you work for a large corporation you might not know everything that goes on. If you are an entrepreneur, you had better know everything that goes on.
Knowing the ins and outs of areas beyond your “job” will help you and your company be successful. It won’t be easy. And your pursuit of knowledge might upset the apple cart. So much so that it might require a great sacrifice on your part.
Are you willing to know your business?

Not sure what you mean about great sacrifice?
The sacrifice of time and attention may take you away from other things in your life. When we were younger, it would be easier to be the first one to arrive in the morning and the last one to leave in the evening. If you are on a salaried income schedule, there may be times where you have to work more hours without getting paid for them, that is if you are just looking at the immediate paycheck.
Also, in our pursuit of knowledge, others may see our initiative as an intrusion, thinking we may be trying to take over their job.
There is still a balance that can be struck among all the areas of knowing your job. Having family, church, and civic responsibilities applies a little more pressure to the balance. One area may suffer (the sacrifice) in order to concentrate on another area that is a higher priority.
