The IAATC 500

There is a place of quiet rest.

There is a place of quiet rest.

Not a race. Just another milestone.

This is post #500 at It’s All About The Customer. I choose to celebrate this day by saying thank you to all who have read, commented on and shared my little corner of the internet.

December 23 is also the day my father passed away in 1977. Dad, it’s been an amazing 35 years. A lot has happened that we were not able to share with you. And yet I still hear people I meet now say I remind them of you. Even though your body is gone, your spirit lives on. Your teachings remain and are now echoed as I hear others say of my son, he reminds them of his dad.

There is your legacy dad. Whether it was your plan or not, it’s alive and going strong. It’s also the inspiration that pushes me to seek those who knew you. To hear their stories and watch them smile, I’ve never met a person that had something negative to say against you.

May I live my life so the same can be said of me.

UPDATE (10/12/16) – I have turned off comments for this post. For some reason, I get more spam comments in the cue for this post than for any on my entire blog.

David, our job as a Father is to be the very best one we can be. In spite of how difficult and challenging life is. Lee knew that. He’d be telling you in person if he was here physically.

From your post, it’s obvious (at least to me) he’s been speaking to you all along anyway. You are a lucky Son.

    Remain amazed. Merry Christmas.

    Congratulations on your 500th post.

It’s a true blessing to carry on your father’s legacy. Keep him close.

    Well said, Brother.
He sounds like a great man!

  4. David says:

Thank you Jeff, Patty and Craig! Richest blessings on you and your families today and every day!

I can still hear your father’s voice. It was one of the last church services he attended. We were singing, and I heard him from behind where Linda and I were sitting. Oh, the voice. It brings tears to my eyes every time I think of that moment. That’s why I wanted you to sing at my wedding. Yes, his legacy lives on, and I know he’s saying, “Well done, son.” Love you too much.

It’s what we want to hear. I know I’ve not been perfect. But I have a God who forgives and friends who help and a family that loves. I think I’ve got it all!

Lee was definitely “one of a kind.” You are the best of both of your parents!! I miss him, too, and, like Beth, I can still hear his voice singing at Huffman!! I treasure those two summers that I got to work for him at UAB while I was in college. He would be very, very proud of the fine Christian man you’ve become and the wonderful example you set as a father to Emily and Benjamin. Love ya, cuz!!

Oh, and congrats on 500 posts!!

    • David says:

Thanks cuz! I hear myself singing above others around me no matter where I am singing. I’m thinking how cool it would have been to harmonize with him. I’m not trying to show off, it’s just my style of singing. . . . I’m loud. 🙂

Thanks for following and contributing to the blog. Love you!

Dude, almost forgot…. 5oo posts! ROCK ON!
You know how many people stick with blogging long enough to reach 500?
    Not many.
The long way is the short cut.

  8. David, Congratulation on the 500th post. A simple THANK YOU is in order for allowing me to read your thoughts. Your love and respect for your father comes through loud and clear. BLessings to you and your family this holiday season.
