Inspiration vs. Motivation

Was it effective?

What’s the difference?

They both call for action. I once read that motivation makes you work just enough not to get fired. Inspiration makes you work hard enough to fire your boss.

Did the public humiliation of the stocks work to deter crime? Did it motivate people to do better?
