Skills to take anywhere

Come on. You can do it!

Come on. You can do it!

There are certain skills you can take with you no matter where you are. And they are easy to come by.

No specialized training.

No expensive books to buy.

No boring lectures to listen to (except this one).

We all have a pet peeve on the list above. I see mine. Do you see yours? Do you see what you would like for others to be?

If you haven’t already, make this a part of your skill set. I’m already working on all of them.

Habitual

How long does it take for something to become a habit – good or bad?

Excellence is defined as the quality of being outstanding or extremely good.

Excellence surpasses ordinary standards. And on the heels of yesterday’s post, excellence doesn’t hold back.

Make excellence a habit.

Hold back

Be sure to save some in your reserve tank.

You wouldn’t want to give everything you have, would you?

I mean our “better” is still good enough, right? It’s still above average.

But by not doing your best, you lower the average and mediocrity becomes the acceptable standard.

Don’t be just good enough.

Mitsakes

Read it again.

Are you learning from your mitsakes?

Take a look at the patterns in your life. If you see that there a recurring problems, chances are there are recurring mitsakes.

The funny thing is that misteaks don’t always look the same.

Find the pattern.

Change behavior.

Learn from mistakes.

Otherwise the garbage just piles up.

Call it

No leader is immune.

No manager is exempt.

No front line employee is protected.

“Things” don’t always go your way. And as a result, the challenges you face at different levels have the same cumulative effect. Change is inevitable and guaranteed. And it’s not easy.

Call it depression. Call it anxiety. Call it hopelessness. And it’s happening to someone you love.

They sit next to you at work. They sit by you on the pew. They sit across from you at the dinner table.

Wherever they sit, wherever they serve, wherever you see them, it follows them. It hangs over them like a dark cloud on the sunniest of days.

They are looking for an ear. They are looking for a shoulder. They are looking for a hug.

They are looking for help. Call it. Be the help. Be the leader at any level.
