On Monday, I am scheduled for a biopsy.
David, a biopsy? They usually don’t do those unless they’re checking for . . . cancer.
Yep. Prostate cancer.
I won’t know the outcome for a week or so. Some of the preliminary test results do point to it. This will be to confirm it and to see how localized it is.
Some people choose to keep things private. I’m choosing to share this publicly so it might persuade some of you to get screened.

UPDATE: Wow. It’s been over 4 years since this post went live. Still no detection of cancer. Doesn’t mean it’s not hiding and will show up later in life. But I’m okay with that. You should be too. 🙂

Just yesterday, I learned of the passing of an old high school friend. He was a couple of years ahead of me. But we lived about 7 houses from each other for about 15 years. Unfortunately, he died from prostate cancer.
Is this the devil’s way of sewing seeds of doubt and fear in my mind? I believe so. Shook me up quite a bit last night. But today is a new day. A new opportunity to be thankful. Maybe even pause to think and smile. 🙂
