Why is most service poor at best?

Definitely not poor service here.

Have we grown accustom to receiving bad service that we no longer are outraged by it?

Cellular phone providers, cable companies, banks and most utilities have some of the worst customer service known to man.

“Your call is very important to us. Please remain on the line and someone will be with you momentarily.”

How many times have we heard this line? And during the same phone call?

There are some places that consistently have great service. Reward them with your patronage.

As for the others, well, it’s up to you as to how you’ll handle them.

Making it grow

Growth. It's a healthy investment.

Growth. Some consider it to be the opposite of death.

You probably have a plan of growth for your business. At least you should.

But what about for yourself? What are you doing to invest in your growth?

A swing and a miss

Glad there's no immediate punishment for mistakes.

If you’re breathing, you’re going to make a mistake.

But Dave, if I play it safe, I won’t make some of the mistakes I’ve seen others make.

Oh yeah? Well how about this . . .

You can’t hit a home run if you never take a swing.

Up or down

I don't think he ever coasted.

Do you lead by building up or tearing down?

Are you quick to point out the mistakes your team members make? Or do you show them the opportunities where they can improve?

You may be talking about the same thing. But it all depends on your approach as to how it will be received.

It’s not easy work pulling the load to the top of the hill. The payoff when you reach the top is very rewarding. But you can’t stop there.

There’s always another hill to climb.

Grand marshal or pooper scooper?

I like parades. I like the creativity of the floats. I like the bands that pass by in neat formation. Dignitaries and beauty queens waving from the back seat of a convertible.

You can disregard the mohawk.

Are you the type to be the grand marshal of the parade or are you walking behind the horses sweeping the poop from the street? Does it really matter?

They both have important jobs. One may dictate the route a company takes in order to help reach it’s goal. The other cleans up the mess others leave behind.

Recognizing the talents your employees posses goes a long way toward the success of your operation. You do want to be successful, right? Life lessons learned while working for you need to be educational experiences that might not be easily forgotten.
